Details: Tuesday, August 14, 4:30 PM at Bethany Christian High School
Last Season Review: We lost to Northridge 1-4 last year. Nate won at #1S and Blake was close at #2. Parth and Ike pulled close in the second set at #2D.
3 Interesting Facts:
#1 - We weren't supposed to face Northridge first this year, but with the rainout, it will be the 10th straight season (all that I've been coaching) that we'll be starting with Northridge.
#2 - The last time we played Northridge at home, we won. It was the only time we've beaten the Raiders.
#3 - We've won once against the Raider varsity, but we've also only won once against the Raider JV. It'd be nice to start picking up those numbers.
Northridge Details: Northridge returns 4 players from their varsity last year. They also bring back 12 JV players. Our JV lost 1-7.
Bethany Christian Details: After the rainout against Jimtown, this will be our first match. We're still testing out the lineup and finding our strengths.
Projected Northridge Lineup: Without having played this year, I'm going to guess again...
#1S - Chris Robbins
#2S - Josh Garfein
#3S - Jed Miller
#1D - Andrew Gingerich/Byron Slabach
#2D - Clay Schnell/James Kristofzski
Outlook: We are a deep team this year, we have many returning players with experience, and that gives us a great advantage. The Raiders are also a team returning many players. Our varsity returns our #1 singles and 1 of our #1 doubles from last year, so does Northridge. We mirror each other very well. It should be a great challenge early in the season, and I'm really excited to see how our team responds to it. Will we accept that we're a team of experience and talent, will we play with confidence, aggression, and energy or not? We'll find out.
